Rare Pair of Chinese Black Stoneware Figural Pricket Candle Holders

Late 18th/ early 19th century

Description

Both foreigners: one a Westerner; the other a Middle Easterner or Turkeman.
Forming a pair, right and left, each dressed in their ethnic/ national clothes and wearing a distinctive hat.  Each stands on a pedestal base with three-part surround, with some indecipherable engraved characters.  Each holding a pricket base in opposing sides.
