Rare Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain Double Ewer

Kangxi period, AD 1662-1722

Description

Of compressed quatrefoil form with mathcing cover, and overarching handle simulating rattan.  Decorated overall in floral designs displaying some Japanese influence (both China and Japan were at the time competing for the European markets).
The interior with compartmented section down the middle. A fascinating and rare type. While seemingly impractical in use, this type of ewer was appreciated as a fine and exotic work.
Height: 5 inches (12.7 cm.)
