Large Chinese Red and Gold Lacquered Carved Wood Figure of a Seated Guanyin

Ming dynasty, ca: 15th/ early 16th century

Description

Posed seated in meditative position with crossed legs and hands in dhyanamudra. The Guanyin is dressed in a long robe, open at the chest, revealing an elaborate beaded necklace. She wears a crown upon her head, and her face bears a serene, contemplative expression.

Height of Figure: 33 ¼ inches (84.5 cm.)
