Fine and Rare Pair of Famille Verte Porcelain Plates

Kangxi period, AD 1662-1722

Description

Beautifully decorated: the first, with a Qilin (a mythical animal of good omen) running in an outdoor setting; the second, with a Tiger (or Leopard) chasing a bird in a similar setting; the cavetto of each most unusually decorated with reserves in the shape of unfurled scrolls with scenes of figures in landscapes.  All set upon a seeded green ground flowers and rockery.

The decoration is superbly painted in deep and vibrant tones.
