Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Covered Two Handled Vase

Kangxi period, AD 1662-1722

Based upon a European silver form, yet decorated in Middle Eastern style with intricate arabesque designs and flowers, all beautifully painted in vibrant underglaze blue.  A rare type, particularly with its original cover.
Height: 12 ¼ inches (31 cm.)
See: a very similar example (without a cover): Ayers, The Koger Collection, 1985, No. 93.  Another is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam: Jorg, 1997, No. 302.
