Fine Chinese Export Silver Tray

Ca: late 19th century

Description

Decorated with finely engraved scenes of scholars in gardens- and boys gathering mulberry leaves.  The scenes based upon the Silk Production paintings and woodblock prints originally commissioned by the Kangxi Emperor.  The border with deep repousse vignettes of scholars walking among a mountain path with cottages.  The underside left plain and with four hemispherical feet.
Marks on the reverse: Luenwo, Shanghai, Canton, and ideo.
