Decorated with Court Ladies in a palace garden.
The underside with Jiajing Ming dynasty mark to the underside.
Period marks on teapots are unusual. Though presumably made for export,
there are similar marked examples in the Palace Museum, Beijing. As the quality is so
fine on this teapot and the related ones- it is possible they were made at better kilns for
both markets: the Chinese court and finer export.
With Dutch silver mounts.
Kangxi period, AD 1662-1722
Height: 4 3/4 inches
