Pair of Chinese Rouge de Fer Glazed Porcelain Spaniels

Qianlong period, ca: 1760


Forming a true pair, right and left, each posed seated upright upon its haunches and wearing a light green collar with gilt bell.  
The Spaniels are glazed in deep iron red, one with lighter patches.  Their faces are well modeled with alert and friendly expressions.  
Of fine quality and rare smaller size.
Qianlong period, ca: 1760
Heights: 6 ¾ inches
Two almost identical pairs are in the Copeland Collection, Nos. 88 (brownish tone) and 89 (similar red tone) now at the Peabody Essex Museum.   Another very similar pair was in the collection of David Rockefeller.  A third similar pair is in the Conde Collection, Mexico City (pp. 194/5).
